SOACT History

SO—ACT was founded in 1993 by Sandra Jones Mitchell and the late Sandra L. Massey. Our services are intended to help fight illness and reduce elder abuse—aging should be a fun and exciting time in one’s life! SO-ACT provides ongoing support to senior citizens to enrich the quality of life for them and their families.  We serve as an advocate, creating awareness of the unique needs that seniors have. Many seniors are on a fixed income and struggle with meeting and maintaining their basic needs. We provide hands-on, referral and financial assistance with food, housing, energy bills, medication and transportation. SO-ACT helps seniors develop an aging plan and assessments for long-term care. Our primary goal is to ensure their safety, comfort and independence. On August 26, 2018, SO-ACT celebrated 26 years of serving seniors throughout Hamilton and Butler Counties.

As Executive Director of SO-ACT, Sandra Jones Mitchell has been an inspiration and guiding force in strategically moving the needle for seniors. With patience and a generous spirit, she tirelessly works to develop and implement programs that have a positive impact on seniors and families through early intervention, diagnosis and treatment. She has developed a holistic approach to advancing the health and wellness of seniors. As a conduit for the community boards she serves on, Sandra has integrated resources which drives sustainability and establishes goodwill. Sandra Jones Mitchell has a great aptitude and respect for those she serves. She has the highest level of ethics and sets the standard for what is the right thing to do!
