2006 NEFERTITI Winner - Sandra M. Jones

The June 10, 2006 edition of the Cincinnati Herald newspaper in Cincinnati, OH reports that Sandra M. Jones is one of the winners of the Nefertiti Award. This award is sponsored by the Cincinnati Herald and recognizes outstanding women in Greater Cincinnati whose works enhance the quality of life in the community. These women symbolize the grace, intelligence, and inner beauty of the African queen, Nefertiti according to Mayor Mallory as he proclaimed June 10, 2006 as "The Cincinnati Herald's 2006 Nefertiti Awards Day" in Cincinnati.

The article describes much of Sandra's career in supporting the elderly. It states "Sandra M. Jones realized at an early age that her calling is to take care of the elderly. She has dedicated just about every available minute of her day to advocating for the elderly. Her first summer job was through CCY at age 14, serving hot meals to older adults." The American Cancer Society wrote the following to Sandra: "It is through collaborating with organizations like SO-ACT that the American Cancer Society can help people along their cancer journey and make a vital impact on their quality of life."

Sandra earned her bachelor's degree in gerontology from the College of Mount Saint Joseph, and plans to obtain her doctorate in gerontological studies.
